Too Nice To Make Money Online
The online business opportunities available to women in small business and home based business are not being maximised. As a woman dealing with women in business I see two conditions blocking women from successfully implementing internet marketing strategies to make money online.
They are called niceness and fear.
Many of us were rewarded for niceness as we grew up. It is a shame that this can translate into maintaining mediocrity rather than achieving greta success because we perceive it to be less threatening for the people around us.
The implementation of internet marketing strategies is limited by fear. Many women in the home and small business area can remember when colour televisions came out, the first videos, when Commodore was a computer, early computer and video games. Some of us are unlucky enough to remember old fashioned typewriters. My university assignments were typed on a traditional type writer.
We have had to constantly play catch up with technology. Unfortunately for many any machine of electrical curiosity was frowned upon because they were boys’ toys. “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it, sweetheart.”
It can be learnt though. There is nothing to fear with a good teacher. As for being nice there is a time to leave behind that which no longer serves you.
Niceness and fear impact upon women’s abilities to implement internet based business strategies. What will my customer think. I. I don’t like long sales copy. Oh video needs to be of a certain quality though before it can sell. It is disturbing to hear the statement “I know it sells but I don’t like it.” That may as well read I am committed to failure.
It is time to leave the past behind and stop worrying what everyone else thinks. Is it more important to be “nice” than successful. Niceness doesn’t pay the bills. There is a need to believe in oneself enough to risk a chance at success especially when you know a strategy works. It is time to shift the paradigm and surround ourselves with supporters of our success.
You cannot continue to block your success. In 2010 women need to be placing higher success expectations upon themselves and asking themselves harder questions about the motivations and reasons behind their actions or lack thereof. Women should be expecting themselves to be great role models for the girls who will follow. The entrepreneur opporunties online offer women so many opportunities to make life balanced success for themselves.
There are women in internet marketing and making money online. Women are under represented on the world internet marketing stage. It is time to take advantage of the technology and opportunities available to us.
